A Calm & Playful Family Home

3 BEDDER APARTMENT / THE PARK VALE

Nestled in the lush vicinity of the Botanic Park Gardens, this 1997 apartment had stood the test of time. It was redesigned for a family of four, with a focus on ample storage and restful areas, while still allowing space for personality and playfulness to shine through. The living room reflects the homeowner’s identity as a vinyl buff, with a sound system and display shelving anchoring the space. A refreshing update to the living room includes this modular shelving system along the projector wall, turning it into both a functional and expressive focal point.
The kitchen was reworked within its original footprint. By redesigning within the existing boundaries, the kitchen becomes the heart of the home, with warm timber cabinetry and clean lines. A set of bi-fold windows cleverly links and separates the dining and living spaces, facilitating a smooth transition between areas and allowing light to filter across zones seamlessly. In the bathroom, green mosaics pair with Vitra fittings for a tactile, elevated touch that feels both modern and timeless.
The bedrooms were styled in calming tones, with a fun pop of blue on the wardrobes, adding a playful twist to the interior. Layered textures, soft lighting, and thoughtful detailing ensure each space feels restful while still carrying the home’s overall creative spirit. This project balances practicality and warmth, creating a home that’s designed for daily family living but enriched with art, music, and character.
